چکیده

Measurement of colour discrimination loss is particularly important in demanding visual tasks where colour is used to enhance visual performance. Ideally, colour vision assessment requires a test that (I). provides true isolation of colour signals, (II). is based on data that describe the statistical limits of colour discrimination in “normal” trichromats, (III). has enough sensitivity to detect “minimal” deficiencies and to classify them, and (IV). can be used to detect and monitor “significant changes” in colour sensitivity. We describe a new Colour Assessment and Diagnosis (CAD) test that exploits the CIE-(x,y) 1931 system and extends the work of MacAdam(6) using spatiotemporal luminance contrast masking techniques(4; 5). The CAD test has been optimised to fulfil the requirements stated above.

Establishing Control Limits on Time Performance Indicators of Projects through Monte Carlo Simulation and Earned Duration Management

Earned Duration Management (EDM) method has been developed to enhance Earned Value Management and to solve some of its problems, such as separation of measuring time and cost dimensions. By providing performance indicators, this method makes it possible for managers to accurately measure the progress of a project and to calculate the time and cost required to complete it. Nevertheless, the acce...

Chromatic detection from cone photoreceptors to V1 neurons to behavior in rhesus monkeys.

Chromatic sensitivity cannot exceed limits set by noise in the cone photoreceptors. To determine how close neurophysiological and psychophysical chromatic sensitivity come to these limits, we developed a parameter-free model of stimulus encoding in the cone outer segments, and we compared the sensitivity of the model to the psychophysical sensitivity of monkeys performing a detection task and t...

Does chromatic sensitivity develop more slowly than luminance sensitivity?

Chromatic sensitivity is very low in humans during the first few months of life. We examined whether low chromatic sensitivity reflects a deficiency among chromatic mechanisms or whether it is simply a manifestation of poor visual sensitivity in general. The sweep VEP was used to measure contrast sensitivity to gratings varying in the mixture of red and green components. For infants from 2 to 8...

Specificity and Selectivity of Chromatic Visual Evoked Potentials

A paper by Rabin et al. (1994) Vision Research, 34, 2657-2671, claimed that spatially extensive grating stimuli could be used to generate chromatic-specific visual evoked potentials from subjects assumed to have standard spectral sensitivity and tritanopic confusion lines. Here we demonstrate that such spatially extensive stimuli may generate responses which are contaminated by luminance-contra...

Nonselective losses in foveal chromatic and luminance sensitivity in multiple sclerosis.

A psychophysical technique involving simple increment threshold measurements was used to determine foveal chromatic and luminance sensitivity in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and in matched normal controls. The patient group showed substantial and nonselective losses in chromatic and luminance sensitivity relative to the normal control group, and these losses were significantly correlat...
